How TheraMind Works For You
The TheraMind Center of Vernon Hills welcomes direct patient inquiries either by phone or through the Contact Us feature on our website. Our patients are also referred by psychiatrists, neurologists, and other primarily Midwest medical professionals whose patients require the specialized clinical services we offer. Once a contact or referral is made, our goal is to make your pre-treatment and treatment process as smooth and worry free as possible. Our highly trained staff collects your relevant background medical history and arranges an initial TMS consultation with one of our Board-certified physicians to determine if you are an appropriate treatment candidate. Our staff also works directly with applicable insurance providers to determine your insurance coverage, including any deductibles, co-pays or co-insurance. We want you to know in advance, to the extent determinable, your potential out-of-pocket costs, if any, associated with the prescribed therapy. If you do not have insurance coverage, we have favorable self-payment plans and will work with you on payment terms. Our staff and physicians, in collaboration with any referring medical professionals, develop specific treatment protocols to address your unique needs and your referring medical professionals are provided regular updates on your progress. Your treatment progress and well-being are closely monitored throughout the course of therapy to maximize effectiveness for the best outcome possible. We are on your side!
Why TMS Therapy At TheraMind?
TheraMind has been treating patients successfully since 2012 in Vernon Hills, longer than any other local TMS therapy provider. TheraMind uses only the safest and most effective TMS therapy equipment available from MagVenture, a global leader in TMS therapy and research for more than 25 years. With our MagPro system we offer standard TMS for major depressive disorder (MDD), lasting 19-37 minutes, as well as Express TMS®, which last 3 minutes. Express TMS is the shortest FDA approved process for treating MDD. The world’s largest TMS study to date found that 49% of the patients responded to the treatment, and 32% achieved full remission using Express TMS. MagVenture TMS equipment was used for that trial. With MagPro we also treat for anxiety, PTSD and OCD. MagVenture’s newest OCD treatment process was FDA approved in August 2020. With TheraMind’s proven treatment process there is hope for you!
Our patients speak for themselves.
“Thank you for saving my life! As I sit here during this COVID-19 time of our life, I am comforted because I have no more nightmares and I don’t live in the depths of despair anymore. …It was not as if a switch flipped on. It was subtle. I realized I wasn’t having any more nightmares at first, and still don’t. Now I feel the joy [when] the sunshine touches me and I don’t carry around the sorrows of the world any longer. I’m able to feel, but not get lost in my feelings. My friends and family have noticed a remarkable difference in me. I now can feel joy.”

We successfully help patients overcome not only their depression and anxiety, but also a number of other behavioral conditions.
Depression is the second leading behavioral health condition nationally (anxiety disorders being the leading behavioral condition) and the reason one of the principal conditions treated at TheraMind Centers is Major Depressive Disorder (MDD). According to a National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) 2017 survey, an estimated 17.3 million (7.1%) U.S. adults (18 years and over) suffer at least one episode of Clinical Depression each year. Of these, 11.0 million (64%) experience severe impairment. An additional 3.2 million adolescents ages 12 – 17 also experience an episode of MDD each year, 71% of whom experience severe Impairment.
Historically, depression has been treated with antidepressants and cognitive behavioral therapy. However, in October 2008 the FDA approved transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) therapy for treatment of MDD in patients for whom antidepressant drug therapy was either ineffective or caused unacceptable side-effects. TMS is a non-invasive treatment for MDD that has been recognized by the American Psychiatric Association in its Best Practices Guidelines as an effective treatment for depression. TMS therapy differs from traditional drug therapy because it employs MRI-strength magnetic impulses that are targeted only to specific regions of the brain. Consequently, TMS is free of the systemic side effects common to drug therapy. Learn more at TMS Treatment Options. In actual clinical practice since the FDA approval TMS has been shown to be both safe and highly effective even in patients who had tried and failed multiple courses of antidepressants.
Other behavioral conditions
Anxiety disorders, which are the leading national mental health concern, including General Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and similar conditions, are also regularly treated at the Vernon Hills Center using TMS therapy.
